With plants in Germany , China and the US , innovation and internationality are our guarantees for success and we are now looking to recruit for the following positions in our
Newport ( Wales , UK ) plant:

Ceramic Technologist - Armour to develop powder processing and hot pressing procedures to manufacture B 4 C armour in both flat plate and multi-curved formats.

Key Tasks:

• To develop a suitable grade of B 4 C powder for hot pressing into body armour.
• To develop powder blending methods for the addition and dispersion of sinter aids and other additives.
• To develop powder handling techniques to facilitate the uniform loading of the graphite die to achieve a uniform density profile throughout the armour tiles / plates.
• To develop suitable die design for the hot pressing of maximum number of tiles at 150mmm square.
• To develop suitable hot pressing procedure to hot press the 150mm square tiles to >98.5% density throughout the stack.
• To scale-up the powder handling procedure to handle 300mm square tiles.
• To scale-up the hot pressing procedure to handle 300mm square tiles.
• To transfer experience thus far gained to produce double curved body armour using similar techniques to those so far developed.
• To co-ordinate all aspects of the project with respect to progress reports and review meetings.
• To organise all necessary external and internal analyses, and external ballistic evaluation trials.
• To manage all staff involved within the project.

Essential for this position are:

• Degree or equivalent in ceramics or associated field.
• Experience in powder handling, blending and hot pressing techniques using non-oxide ceramic materials.
• Strong, practical engineering background.
• Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project

Desirable would be:

• Good background knowledge of ballistics and ballistic standards.
• Good understanding of Chemistry, Physics and Maths.
• Working knowledge of some European languages.
